Miguel Morna Freitas is a Chicago-area fine art portrait and dance photographer based in Bolingbrook, Illinois, specializing in creative studio photography for dancers, athletes, musicians, and other performing artists. Since 2011, he has worked with dance students, teachers, artistic directors, and aspiring and professional performers, creating portraits, headshots, audition images, and movement-based artwork that help clients celebrate their artistry and present themselves at a higher level.
With more than 15 years of experience as a dance parent, Miguel brings an understanding of the discipline, dedication, and years of training behind every performance. His work is rooted not only in photography, but in a deep appreciation for movement, expression, and the human form. Working from his Bolingbrook studio and on select location sessions throughout the Chicago area and western suburbs, he creates images that balance technical skill with emotion, elegance, and individuality.
Miguel’s fine art photography is inspired by artists such as Auguste Rodin and Frida Kahlo, as well as by the interplay of light, shadow, fabric, color, and gesture. His goal is to create more than photographs. He creates artwork that honors the hard work behind the performance and transforms fleeting moments into lasting visual pieces.
His exhibition work has been featured in solo and group exhibits throughout the Chicago area, including the Indian Prairie Public Library, Ruth Page Center for the Arts, Wheaton Public Library, Colores Mexicanos in Chicago, the DuPage Hispanic Alliance Latin Art Walk, and Arts DuPage exhibitions in Naperville, Bolingbrook, Oak Brook, and beyond.
